ivy. is looking for short, punchy, speculative fiction that imagines a better world. We ask for you to keep it short, so we will too:
Story Guidelines.
Positive Speculation. Stories should imagine or explore a path towards a brighter, better future. We live in a world of concrete systems and barriers; ivy breaks it all down. Show us a crack and widen it further.
Genre. As long as it’s speculative and positive, give us your best shot.
Microfiction. Stories can be a maximum of 400 words. Stories should be complete – please no snippets or portions of longer works (unless they can walk on their own two feet).
Original and human. ivy. categorically rejects works generated by or edited by AI.
Submission Details.
Simultaneous Submissions. Yes, please. Please notify ivy. if your story has been accepted by another journal so ivy. can remove it from consideration.
Multiple Submissions. Please only submit one story per submission period. If you submit more than one story, neither will be considered for publication in that period.
Response Time. ivy. promises to strive for fast responses to your submission. If you have not heard from ivy., please query after 60 days.
Format. Please submit one Word Doc or PDF of your story. Document should be in a 12pt, legible font (serif reccommended – ivy. publishes in Faustina). Please include your name and address in the document. We won’t say no to using proper manuscript formatting
Compensation. ivy. does not at this time offer payment to accepted authors.
Rights. On selection, ivy. reserves First Electronic Rights for one (1) year.
